Bold

In the “Bold” collection designed for Salviati, Gianni Cinti revives ancient glassmaking techniques from the archives of the historic Murano company (such as the use of “pulegoso” blown glass, spirally applied cords, striped or manually added extruded elements) by reinterpreting them in a contemporary context.

The approach to decoration (a hallmark of the Designer) becomes instinctive – a pursuit of essentiality aimed at maximally enhancing the complex, high-artisan manual techniques (possible only through the expertise of Salviati’s Master Glassmakers).

Cinti moves away from ornamental complexity to arrive at a work that is almost “primitive” and exquisitely semantic: he explores mark, line, and point. The sculptural objects stimulate a tactile as well as visual experience, inviting reflection on the “opposite” – the lightness/heaviness of the material, the complexity/purity of forms, the presence/absence of elements.

“Bold” signifies something that highlights or alters the silhouette of an existing design: thus, Cinti’s objects redefine new visual dimensions where not only the object exists but also its “other” version, not entirely different but “dissimilar.”
