Salviati x Kengo Kuma

Kengo Kuma’s collaboration reflects Salviati’s commitment to innovation without losing sight of tradition. This partnership has been a moment of dialogue and exchange—an opportunity to embrace new ideas and experiment with different techniques to create unique, contemporary works.

The result of this experimentation is the “dieXe” chandelier and the “Collezione Zero”—a series of objects that emerged from the sketches of architect Kengo Kuma, fused with the fluidity of glass and the essence of the lagoon: the wood from the briccole.

Collezione Zero

“Collezione Zero” collects a series of objects born from sketches by Architect Kengo Kuma, then shaped by combining molten glass with the wood traditionally used in the lagoon fortifications.

Each glass piece carries the living soul of the Venetian Lagoon, blending the four natural elements that shape nature—earth, air, water, and fire—with the concept of void: that inevitable space created between two structural elements, such as molten glass and wooden molds.

Earth is represented by the sand forming the natural seabed of the Venetian lagoon and the wooden poles (briccole and paline) that sink their ends into this sandy foundation, forming the very foundations of the city.
Water is the unmistakable greenish, salty, shallow water of the lagoon, characterized by a unique ecosystem found nowhere else in the world.
Air is the breath of the glass master, blown into the incandescent glass material while fire is the furnace itself—the place where glass comes to life.
